La  Banda Gozona

Since 1990, fine artist Fulgencio Lazo Amaya and saxophonist Bill "Memo" Clifford have collaborated with artists, friends and family to bring the culture and fiestas of Oaxaca, Mexico to Seattle. Joined by the Amaya family dancers, la Banda Gozona celebrates culture, community, family and life.

With active support and encouragement from our musical friends in Oaxaca, la Banda Gozona brings you authentic jarabes, sones, boleros, zapateados, valses and more musical styles of the Zapotec people of Oaxaca.  The group has performed throughout the Puget Sound area in concerts & parties including presentations at the Seattle Center and the Seattle Art Museum. In Zapoteco, "gozona" means a gift of good will.  Ful and Memo invite you to share the gift of this wonderful music. ¡Vamos a bailar!
